Letter from Leadership Fall 2025

From the Associate Vice President for Human Resources

Dear UT Staff and Faculty,

As we begin the fall semester, I want to take a moment to formally introduce myself. I officially stepped into my role as the new leader of UT Human Resources this past May, and it’s an incredible honor to serve the remarkable employees who make this University the best in the country. UT isn’t just an institution of learning — it’s a place of profound purpose. Every day, I’m inspired by the energy, creativity and care our staff and faculty bring to campus.

There is no environment as rich and fulfilling as higher education. What brought me to UT in particular is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. At its best, Human Resources is about more than policies and procedures. It’s about listening, understanding and creating communities where people flourish in their work and feel engaged with a larger mission. What excites me most about this role is the chance to champion a true people-first approach.

This fall, as our beloved Tower undergoes its restoration, I’m reflecting on the symbolic value of that project. Just like the Tower, our people are central to the University’s identity. Supporting our faculty and staff, renewing our commitment to your experience and ensuring you have everything you need to succeed are the foundations we’re building upon together.

The stories in this issue of Texas Connect showcase the breadth and depth of your impact — from our researchers exploring artificial intelligence, to our observatory staff working to preserve dark skies for future generations, to the athletic field specialists who ensure our Longhorn athletes have the best opportunities.

The advancement of our core mission is made possible by the dedication, ingenuity and attention you bring to work each day. You are essential to UT’s ambitions and momentum. I look forward to working alongside you to foster a campus culture where all employees can thrive.

Hook ’em!
